It is possible to keep your teeth healthy all your life. These are some of the ways you can keep your teeth healthy and strong.

  • Fluoride toothpaste can also be used to brush your tooth. Fluoridated water should also be taken.
  • Good oral hygiene is vital. For plaque removal, brush your teeth twice a day and floss between your teeth daily.
  • Even if you don’t have dentures or natural teeth, it is still important to see your dentist at least once per year.
  • Tobacco products should be avoided. Stop smoking.
  • Be careful not to consume alcoholic beverages.
  • Your diabetes should be under control. This will help reduce your risk of developing gum disease. The treatment of gum disease can lower blood sugar.
  • Ask your doctor about dry mouth. Drink plenty of water, and chew sugarless gum if you have dry mouth.
  • Your dentist should be consulted if you notice a sudden change of taste or smell.
  • As a caregiver, you can help an older person brush their teeth and floss their teeth, if necessary.
